Policeman sues over orders to attend Islamic prayer

By Bob Unruh, WorldNet Daily

A Tulsa, Okla., police captain is suing his chief and the city after he was demoted and targeted by an internal investigation for refusing orders to attend an event featuring lessons in Islam, a tour and a prayer service at a mosque linked to an unindicted co-conspirator in a terror financing trial.

The legal action has been brought by attorneys with the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of Paul Fields.

Named as defendants are the city, police chief Charles W. Jordan and deputy chief Alvin Daryl Webster. WND requests for comment did not generate a response from the defendants.

The lawsuit focuses on the officer’s constitutional and civil rights, and besides a resolution of Fields’ concerns, it seeks an injunction preventing “enforcement of defendants’ unconstitutional acts, policies, practices, procedures and/or customs.”

At issue is a solicitation by officials in the Tulsa Police Department for officers to attend a “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” organized by the Islamic Society of Tulsa. The invitation said the officers would be given tours of the mosque, meet the mosque’s leadership, be given presentations of “beliefs, human rights, women” and “watch the 2-2:45 weekly congregational prayer service.”

While at first the police administration’s recommendation for attendance at the event appeared to be voluntary – there was a voluntary signup list – the law firm said when officers refused to respond, the managers made it a required event.

Raw Milk Mania

By Bonnie Kristian

The feds recently conducted a year-long sting operation (yes, really.) to arrest an Amish farmer for selling raw milk in DC. Fortunately, raw milk devotees have not allowed this ridiculous law to go unnoticed:

“AMERICA, sleep well. After a year of surveillance, an undercover operation, and a pre-dawn raid by gun-toting U.S. marshals, the country is safe from an Amish farmer. Dan Allgyer’s crime? Selling unpasteurized milk to a food co-op in the Washington area.

But raw-milk advocates, the feds are learning, do not go down easily. About 400 people protesting Mr. Allgyer’s arrest arrived on Capitol Hill earlier this month with a cow named Morgan, a milking stool, plastic cups, and plenty of passion. Toasting their favorite drink, they pointed out that the signers of the Constitution also drank raw milk and proclaimed “the right to choose what to eat and drink” without government interference.”

Perhaps one of the reasons this story has managed to get some media attention (despite the obvious factor of an Amish man being arrested) is the complete absurdity of legislating milk.

Scientists push to implement edible RFID tracking chips in food

Scientists push to implement edible RFID tracking chips in food
Friday, June 03, 2011 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) It will monitor your calorie intake, show from where your food was sourced, and even let you know when the food in your fridge is about to go bad — these are some of the enticing claims made by the developers of a new system that embeds edible radio frequency identification (RFID) chips directly into food. Its creators insist the technology will revolutionize the way humans eat for the better, but critical-thinking onlookers will recognize the ploy as just another way to track and control human behavior.

Developed by Hannes Harms from the Royal College of Art in London, the “NutriSmart” system is based on the idea that RFID wafers injected directly into food can help better track the food supply chain, further automate the supermarket shopping experience, and simplify the eating experience by programming data into food so that humans essentially do not have to think about what they are doing.

The technology makes both eating and dealing with food in general mindless, as a person simply needs to plop an RFID-embedded food item onto a special RFID-laced plate, which then tells the person all about the item and how much of it to eat. RFID ovens and microwaves also eliminate having to think about how long to cook an RFID food item — simply put it in the RFID microwave, oven, or toaster, and the machine will know exactly how long to cook the item.

As interesting and novel as this might sound, such technology is actually quite frightening when taken to its logical ends. NaturalNews previously warned that mad scientists have already developed edible RFID tags for use in pharmaceutical drugs (http://www.naturalnews.com/028663_h…). These tags, of course, can and will likely be used to monitor patients’ compliance with doctors orders, and alert authorities if a patient refuses to take certain pills as prescribed.

And if such technology also ends up in food, it is safe to assume that evil powers will seek to control the food supply with it, as well as monitor the types of food people eat. In other words, if authorities one day decide that vitamin and mineral supplements are off limits, which is what is currently happening in Europe (http://www.naturalnews.com/032389_h…), it is plausible that RFID technology can assess illegal intake of such nutrients, and immediately send this data to the appropriate enforcement agencies.

This 1984-esque scenario appears to be more than just science fiction — it is unfolding before our eyes just a little bit more every single day. And the NutriSmart system is just another piece of evidence that those in power wish to micromanage every single aspect of our lives, from the drugs we take to the foods we eat.

The Environmental Injustice of Water Fluoridation

By The Fluoride Action Network

According to the U.S. Surgeon General, “there are profound and consequential disparities in the oral health of our citizens…” that have resulted in a “silent epidemic” of dental and oral diseases that disproportionately affects low-income and minority populations1.

Unfortunately, not only are these groups afflicted with worse dental health, but are also suffering more extensively from the public health measure carried out under the guise of improving oral health: water fluoridation.

The Environmental Injustice of Water Fluoridation

One of the goals of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and particularly of its administrator Lisa Jackson, is achieving Environmental Justice for all Americans. According to the EPA (2011):

“Environmental Justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. EPA has this goal for all communities and persons across this Nation.

It will be achieved when everyone enjoys the same degree of protection from environmental and health hazards and equal access to the decision-making process to have a healthy environment in which to live, learn, and work.”

Unfortunately, the agencies and associations that continue to promote artificial water fluoridation – including the EPA’s Office of Water, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Oral Health Division, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the American Dental Association (ADA) – have completely ignored racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic differences when stating that the level of fluoride used is “safe” for all Americans to consume in drinking water – on a daily basis, and over a lifetime.

A number of groups are particularly susceptible to fluoride’s toxic effects.

Fluoridation proponents are finally beginning to acknowledge the susceptibility of infants and children to excessive fluoride intakes, likely because they can no longer deny the obvious effects that fluoride has on the developing teeth, in the form of dental fluorosis.

Nearly 41 percent of adolescents aged 12-15 now have some form of dental fluorosis2, an outwardly visible sign of fluoride over-exposure and toxicity.

However, also included among those that are disproportionately impacted by fluoride are minorities and low-income families. The refusal by government agencies to consider these groups when determining enforceable safety standards or recommended levels for artificial fluoridation is no doubt a form of discrimination, contradicting any assertions by these agencies that they are working towards Environmental Justice for all.

Atlanta Civil Rights leaders Andrew Young and Reverend Dr. Gerald Durley recently requested that Georgia legislators repeal the state’s mandatory water fluoridation law, based on the fact that fluoride can disproportionately harm poor citizens and black families.

According to a recent press release3 , the leaders “expressed concerns about the fairness, safety, and full disclosure regarding fluoridation in letters to the state’s minority and majority legislative leaders.” In his letter to the legislators, Rev. Dr. Durley states,

“I support the holding of Fluoridegate hearings at the state and national level so we can learn why we haven’t been openly told that fluorides build up in the body over time, (and) why our government agencies haven’t told the black community openly that fluorides disproportionately harm black Americans…”

Minorities Suffer Disproportionate Harm from Fluoridation

African American children have been found to consume significantly more total fluids and plain water, and thus receive more fluoride from drinking water, than white children4 . Additionally, African American mothers are less likely to breastfeed than most other racial groups5 . As breast milk contains very low levels of fluoride6 ), babies fed formula made with fluoridated water could receive up to 200 times more fluoride than a breast-fed baby.

Thus, African American infants and children have a higher risk of being overexposed to fluoride.

In fact, it has been known for many decades that African Americans and Hispanics are at an increased risk of developing dental fluorosis, and have a higher risk of suffering from the more severe forms of this condition7.

Can’t raise taxes? Just call it a ‘fee’

By Bob Unruh
© 2011 WND

In a society where voters more and more are choosing to restrain government and its activities, lawmakers in Colorado were faced with a dilemma: They wanted to borrow and spend hundreds of millions of dollars on bridge repairs and feared voters, who under the state Constitution would have to approve any borrowing plan or tax increase, would object because of the state’s rocky economy.

So the solution adopted in Colorado’s Democrat-controlled legislature was to create an “enterprise” – an entity owned and run by the state Department of Transportation – to take over the responsibility to repair and replace those bridges. As an “enterprise,” its managers, the same people who make decisions for the state agency, could borrow money without voter approval and could raise taxes on taxpayers as long as they called them “fees.”

But now a think tankin Golden, Colo., has published a series of commentaries from analysts in what could be the start of a campaign to highlight what lawmakers did to their constituents, or at least publicize the maneuvers so that voters are aware of why their license “fees” for a $400 homemade trailer now reach a full 10 percent of its original cost – each and every year.

Wake up, America! Your country is about to disappear. Read Mark Levin’s No. 1 best-seller “Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto”

The issue arose over the state General Assembly’s adoption in the 2009 session of Senate Bill 09-108, which created a “Colorado Bridge Enterprise.” It has since borrowed $300 million to start a round of bridge repairs, and is charging every vehicle owner in the state a “fee” every year for their “access” to those bridges.

But analyst Tom Ryan, whose critique was published recently by the Independence Institute, said the lawmakers relied “on distortions and deliberate misdirections to subvert Coloraedo’s Constitution and silence the voice of the people.”

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

In reviewing the Facebook page of a friend who reportedly attends an evangelical church, I was flabbergasted to see what they listed as their religious beliefs: Spaghetti Monster.

This person is a senior in high school, and after further checking, I discovered that this person’s sister also lists Spaghetti Monster as their religious belief.

One of the main sites that talks about this belief is found here:

http://www.venganza.org/about/

where it talks about the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Despite the claims listed on this site, it seems obvious to me that this is a pseudo-religion with not a thread of truth to it. Continue reading

The Toxic Five: Why Are They Still in Our Food?

Here is a link to a news item posted by Dr. Joseph Mercola on August 14, 2010. It includes a video interview with Dr. Shiv Chopra. Dr. Shiv Chopra, originally from India, was a drug company insider and also worked for what is now Health Canada–the Canadian equivalent of the FDA–for 35 years. In this interview he discusses the issue of food safety, and the toxic elements of our conventional food supply.

The toxic five elements in our food in America that are discussed are: 1) recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) and other hormones given to animals; 2) antibiotics systematically given to animals for the wrong reason; 3) rendered slaughterhouse waste that ends up in the food supply (and is a contributor to mad cow disease and other illnesses); 4) genetically modified organisms (GMO’s); and 5) dangerous pesticides added to GMO’s. May the Buyer Beware

How many times have you gone to the grocery story (or Walmart) and seen food items with their tantalizing advertisements that say zero fat grams, or zero grams of trans fat? Or how about items that say low carb? And the list goes on … It seems that everyone is on a health kick these days, but do most people really know what they are talking about? And what about the food companies and advertisers? Do they have a hidden agenda? Continue reading

I Could’ve Had a V-8!

Being a lover of healthy foods and wanting to get my vegetables and various nutrients if possible (but still eat or drink something tasty), every once in awhile I like to drink some V-8® juice. V-8® has been around all my life. I’ve always seen it as a wholesome drink, and something different from the sweet fruit juices or other drinks that could be had.

In recent years I’ve noticed that V-8® has branched out in its marketing. The new drinks may sound inviting, but are they? I’ve even wondered if the standard V-8® is still healthy – but so far it is. I just have to remember to keep reading the labels before I buy. Anyway, the ingredients in the new V-8® products may surprise you. Continue reading
